{"id":1452,"date":"2023-12-19T09:36:17","date_gmt":"2023-12-19T14:36:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/old.lib.utk.edu\/collections\/?page_id=1452"},"modified":"2024-05-28T08:03:41","modified_gmt":"2024-05-28T12:03:41","slug":"collmangmt","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/old.lib.utk.edu\/collections\/research-collections-2\/collmangmt\/","title":{"rendered":"Collection Development and Management"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A healthy collection for UT Libraries:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>provides access to resources that meet the university&#8217;s research, teaching, and learning needs;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/li><li>preserves resources that are scarce among our resource sharing partners;&nbsp; <\/li><li>and supports the needs and interests of TN residents.&nbsp; <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Libraries develops and maintains a healthy collection by working with a committee to review new resource requests, evaluating subscription resources to determine ongoing use, regularly updating automated purchasing methods to stay current with needs, and&nbsp; periodically removing items or discontinuing subscriptions. We employ various metrics to holistically assess resources.
