The UT Libraries and the East Tennessee Historical Society invite middle and high school students to a free half-day research workshop in anticipation of the National History Day Contest. The workshop will teach students how to locate primary and secondary library resources on their chosen topics. This preparatory session will take place Saturday, October 13, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in room 128 of UT\u2019s Hodges Library (1015 Volunteer Boulevard).<\/p>\n

To attend the workshop, register by October 5 at tiny.utk.edu\/HistoryDayWorkshop<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The National History Day Contest<\/a> encourages middle and high school students to conduct original research on historical topics. Students begin by presenting projects in their classrooms and schools. The best projects advance to local and state competitions. The top entries in each category will compete in the 2019 National History Day Contest, June 9-13, 2019, at the University of Maryland, College Park. This year\u2019s theme is Triumph and Tragedy in History.<\/p>\n
