Throughout this transition, UT Libraries remained committed to supporting the academic success of our community \u2014 uninterrupted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It takes a lot of awesome people doing incredible things behind the scenes to continue to support each of our Vols. Take a sneak peek at what the transition from an in-person to a completely online semester looked like at UT Libraries. All due dates have been extended to August 17, 2020 (at the earliest), and any overdue fines have been waived. All we ask is that you please take good care of your new summer vacation tagalongs until they can once again be reunited with their favorite bookshelf.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/volumes.lib.utk.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/instruction-library-drawing-958x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Instructional Support Shifted Online\" class=\"wp-image-15033\" width=\"295\" height=\"319\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Instructional support shifted online<\/strong> \u2013 Library class instruction moved online via Zoom calls. Librarians were available to answer instructors\u2019 questions while providing resources to ensure that classes were completed successfully throughout the spring semester. Our online <a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.utk.edu\/tutorials\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tutorials<\/a> on using library resources and <a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.utk.edu\/?b=s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lib Guides<\/a> to the literature of different subject areas proved invaluable. Of course, we are here and available to help this summer as well. Just let us know what you need!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Books, journals, and articles are even more plentiful <\/strong>&#8211; UT Libraries has always been focused on online resources. In fact, we\u2019ve got <em>millions<\/em> of e-books, articles, databases, and journals available to you. Thankfully, many vendors have temporarily increased access to some of their online resources as well \u2013 including unprecedented access to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hathitrust.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HathiTrust<\/a>. What does that mean for you? Just that your access to online resources has increased by another 1.1 million books or so. Over <strong>8 million<\/strong> e-books and resources are now available to you online\u2026not too shabby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reimagined daily connections<\/strong> \u2013 To be honest, we\u2019ve really missed being at the libraries and seeing each of you. Our daily connections are something we all looked forward to \u2014 and thankfully we\u2019re able to keep them going. You can find us online via our <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/old.lib.utk.edu\/chat\/\" target=\"_blank\">chat service<\/a> 14 hours a day Monday-Friday, and 12 hours a day Saturday and Sunday. We\u2019re here for your questions, comments, or concerns. Or just feel free to pop in to say <em>hi<\/em>. And remember, our chat services are staffed by . . . well, staff. No bots here.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Activated awareness for Digital Collections \u2013<\/strong> Academic resources are what we\u2019re known for. But can UT Libraries help you relax and unwind, too? Absolutely! Self-care is more important now than ever, and we\u2019ve got a ton of incredible resources, including <a href=\"https:\/\/old.lib.utk.edu\/movies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">movie streaming<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.utk.edu\/c.php?g=291722&amp;p=6030318\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">language learning<\/a>, and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/digital.lib.utk.edu\/collections\/islandora\/object\/collections:fbpro?display=grid\" target=\"_blank\">UT Athletics media guides and game<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/digital.lib.utk.edu\/collections\/islandora\/object\/collections:fbpro?display=grid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <\/a><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/digital.lib.utk.edu\/collections\/islandora\/object\/collections:fbpro?display=grid\" target=\"_blank\">day programs<\/a> to help you recharge when you\u2019re outside of the virtual classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/volumes.lib.utk.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/archiving-library-drawing-858x1024.jpg\" alt=\"During the Spring Semester, UT Libraries asked for your stories to archive\" class=\"wp-image-15035\" width=\"295\" height=\"319\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Redefined research support<\/strong> \u2013 Tackling any research project goes hand in hand with spending time at UT\u2019s libraries. Research support is available from our <a href=\"https:\/\/old.lib.utk.edu\/askusnow\/subject-librarians\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">subject librarians<\/a> via email or by setting up a Zoom chat. Our job is to ensure that your research needs are met from wherever you may be. The best part? There is a subject librarian available for almost every field of study at UT, so a subject matter expert is available for you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Your personal stories are being archived \u2013 <\/strong>This spring,<strong> <\/strong>UT Libraries sent out a call to all students, faculty, and staff to document their experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic through poems, journal entries, videos, or pictures. We invite you to deposit those documents in the University Archives to share your experiences with future Volunteers. Your voice matters. Your experience is unique.
