{"id":16932,"date":"2021-07-22T14:08:16","date_gmt":"2021-07-22T18:08:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/volumes.lib.utk.edu\/?post_type=post&amp;p=16932"},"modified":"2021-07-22T14:08:16","modified_gmt":"2021-07-22T18:08:16","slug":"2021-arlie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/old.lib.utk.edu\/news\/2021\/07\/2021-arlie\/","title":{"rendered":"And the winner is&#8230;UT Libraries!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Association of Research Libraries (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.arl.org\/\">ARL<\/a>)&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.arl.org\/event\/association-meeting-spring-2021-invitation-only\/\">Spring Association Meeting<\/a>&nbsp;featured the sixth annual ARL Film Festival (the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.arl.org\/arl-film-festival-2021-the-arlies\/\">Arlies<\/a>). The festival highlights member-created videos that promote and generate awareness for library spaces, services, collections, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UT Libraries received a 2021 Arlie award in the Best Performance category for \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Qr4bCJ3vc38\">We Got Your E-Books<\/a>,&#8221; part of a series of one-minute videos created in the summer of 2020 to help university students who were learning remotely.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"We Got Your E-Books\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Qr4bCJ3vc38?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In one minute, \u201cWe Got Your E-Books\u201d conveys a few simple ideas: (1) There are several routes to locating e-books, including OneSearch on the UT Libraries website, as well as our subscription databases and e-book collections. (2) The HathiTrust digital repository \u2014 which during the pandemic gave UT users emergency temporary access to more than a million e-books \u2014 is well worth exploring for your research needs. (3) If you need additional help with your online research, our librarians are available through Chat on the Libraries\u2019 website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drawing on scripts created for our series of one-minute videos, Shelly O\u2019Barr, a staff member from our Studio media production lab, wrote rap lyrics about how to access e-books, then passed them over to her Studio co-worker Trey Hobson with instructions to \u201cdo a nice boom-clack beat and run with it.\u201d That\u2019s Trey rapping on \u201cWe Got Your E-Books.\u201d Shelly, who serves as the Libraries\u2019 official photographer and videographer, produced the final video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congratulations to everyone involved in creating this year\u2019s award-winning film.
