The UT Creative Writing Program announces the winners of its yearly writing contests for students. The 2011 contest winners will read from their award-winning works at an event sponsored by the Creative Writing Program and Writers in the Library<\/a>. The reading will take place on Tuesday<\/strong>, April 19<\/strong>, at 7 pm<\/strong> in 1210 McClung Tower<\/strong>. Undergraduate winners will read at 7 pm; graduates, at 8 pm. The readings are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

Winners of the undergraduate creative writing prizes are:<\/p>\n

ROBERT A. BURKE AWARD FOR FICTION
\nFirst Prize: Will McClure<\/strong> for “Keep Driving”
\nSecond Prize: Cynthia Bentley<\/strong>, “When Peace Comes”<\/p>\n

ELEANORA BURKE AWARD FOR NON-FICTION
\nFirst Prize: Faith Barger<\/strong>, “Survivor’s Guilt”
\nSecond Prize: Stephanie Riggs<\/strong>, “Out to Lunch”<\/p>\n

BAIN-SWIGGETT POETRY PRIZE
\nFirst Prize: Logan Murphy<\/strong>, “Dive, a Sestina”
\nSecond Prize: Jeremy Brunger<\/strong>, “The Fisherman”<\/p>\n

KNICKERBOCKER POETRY PRIZE
\nFirst Prize: Allison Yilling<\/strong>, “Cusco”
\nSecond Prize: Ryan Butz<\/strong>, “And Yet”<\/p>\n

Winners of the JOHN C. HODGES GRADUATE WRITING PRIZES are:<\/p>\n
