We will also scan newspaper articles, tables of content, title pages, indexes, and government documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>About Scan On Demand<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How do I place a request?<\/strong><br \/>Use <a href=\"https:\/\/lib.utk.edu\/catalog\">OneSearch<\/a> to locate the book, periodical, newspaper, etc. you need. After you sign in, click on the PDF Scan link next to the volume\/issue you need, and provide the complete citation. Be sure to select the correct volume that matches your citation. If you <a href=\"https:\/\/lib.utk.edu\/askusnow\">need help<\/a>, we will be happy to verify the citation. See <a href=\"https:\/\/old.lib.utk.edu\/access\/recalls\/how-request-items\/\">these instructions<\/a>\u00a0for requesting PDF scans.<br \/><br \/><strong>Is there a limit to the number of scan requests?<\/strong><br \/>Yes, you may request up to 10 scans per day. To comply with copyright law, we also have to restrict your requests to one journal article per issue or one chapter per book. Requests for multiple chapters from a single book will be converted to a physical item request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Are there restrictions on what you will scan?<\/strong><br \/>We will not fulfill requests that may violate copyright restrictions. Examples include<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>An entire work (e.g., book, music score, etc.)<\/li><li>A chapter that exceeds a fair use portion of the book.<\/li><li>More than one journal article per issue or more than one chapter per book. If you need multiple articles or chapters, please place a hold request for the physical item.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We also cannot scan materials located in Reference, Special Collections, or Reserves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Do you make scans for e-reserves?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No, but here are links for the resources that are available:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>If only a few chapters from a book are needed, you may request scans through DMS (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/oit.utk.edu\/teachingtools\/dms\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/oit.utk.edu\/teachingtools\/dms\/<\/a>)<\/li><li>If an entire book is needed, you may submit a request for an e-book purchase through the online suggest-a-purchase form (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/old.lib.utk.edu\/collections\/suggest-a-purchase\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/old.lib.utk.edu\/collections\/suggest-a-purchase\/<\/a>)<\/li><li>You may also contact your library subject liaison (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/old.lib.utk.edu\/askusnow\/subject-librarians\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/old.lib.utk.edu\/askusnow\/subject-librarians\/<\/a>) to request an e-book or find an alternate text that is available electronically<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When will I get my scans?<\/strong><br \/>Usually within 1-2 business days (Monday-Friday).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why was my scan request cancelled?<\/strong><br \/>If the volume you selected in OneSearch does not match the volume in your citation or if your page numbers do not correspond to the article we see, we will ask that you resubmit the request. This helps us get the right articles to you in a timely and efficient manner. If you need help verifying your citation, contact <a href=\"https:\/\/lib.utk.edu\/askusnow\">AskUsNow<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>NOTICE WARNING CONCERNING COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction.
