Wilma Dykeman Stokely<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Friends of the Knox County Public Library<\/a> established the Wilma Dykeman Stokely Memorial Lecture in 2007 to honor the late writer, speaker, teacher, historian, environmentalist and friend of local libraries. Friends of the Knox County Public Library and the Library Society of the University of Tennessee have co-sponsored the lecture since 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speakers represent a wide range of backgrounds, experiences and work, but all have a deep connection to one or more of Stokely’s passions: Appalachia, the environment, and racial and gender equity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carolyn Finney<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Join us for a conversation with Carolyn Finney. Carolyn Finney, PhD<\/a><\/strong>, is an author passionate about topics covering identity, creativity, and resilience. Dr. Finney\u2019s work revolves around developing cultural awareness within environmental organizations. Her experience backpacking across the world led her to complete a BA and MA in gender and environmental issues, as well as a PhD in African American and environmental issues in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
